86 per cent of Singaporeans live in public housing flats built by the Housing and Development Board (HDB). These blocks of flats used to be known informally as small "pigeon-holes". Nowadays, prices have risen while the "pigeon-holes" have shrunken into tiny "bee-hives"...

Thanks for the picture. Do people rent these “pigeon holes” or buy them? When were were in Singapore 2 years ago ( 1 night stop over on our way to India ) there were new high rises going up all over the place. We stayed somewhere downtown along the river. Singapore is very clean and I noticed quite a bit of green mixed in with all the buildings.
We have a choice to rent or buy… but we never really own them…
Your observations are very true, Mark. High rise buildings sprout like mushrooms here… especially now that the integrated resorts (high class gambling dens) are coming up ;-)
& yes this is a clean, green & exciting place to be living in :-)
